Halloween Happening 2009

Its time again for the Holiday Happening but this time it
will be in a different season at a different house.
Ella and I will be hosting the event this year with a
Fall and Halloween theme.

Saturday
Meet at our house and we will start the weekend off with a trip to Irons Fruit Farm in historic Lebanon, Ohio. We'll take a hayride out to pick a pumpkin and then come back to the bakery located in an old transformed barn from 1912. We'll get some of their Apple Pie for dessert and Apple Cider Donuts with cinnamon and sugar for Sunday's breakfast.
4:30 Mass at St. Maximilian Kolbe
5:30 Dinner
To be determined...go out for dinner or order in pizza??
7:00 Carve Pumpkins
I'll have pumkin carving supplies, including lino-cut tools to make the kind of designs that just carve into the surface. Here are some fun websites just to get you in the mood for carving...

8:00 Hang out
Start doing some crafting, sleep, watch TV, relax, look at magazines, sip tea, whatever you feel like! Dave, Maria and Eva will be having a sleepover with John, John and Bode and Julia has decided to go to a Halloween Campout with her best friend. So we will have a good amount of beds. We also have one air mattress and maybe Lisa can bring one of hers.

Sunday
A Breakfast Tea
Ella loved Lisa's Tea Parties so much that she wants us to have one too. So I will serve eggs, bacon and mini pancakes. We will have the cinnamon donuts from Iron's Fruit Farm, too. Lisa, if you could bring your Fruit Pizza, Linda-Cucumber Sandwiches, and if anyone else wants to bring their own miniature contribution to add and make it fun that would be great! We will have a variety of tea, but you can bring your favorite to share if you would like.

Art Projects

Self Portrait Collages
I will have the basement studio ready for collaging. And don't worry, this doesnt mean that you have to draw a picture of yourself. You don't have to have your picture on it at all if you don't want to!! ... You can bring some of your favorite photos and magazines to cut things out of or we can make photocopies. I have some great new books that you can look at to get started. I will have a small monoprinting station set up and all my art and stamping supplies available to play with.
I may try to get small canvases for the base (if I can find them at a good price) so they will be ready to hang when they are finished. If not, we can use matboard cut to standard frame sizes so they can be easily framed and hung. It will be similar to the small wooden collages that we did with the postcards and stamps, but a little larger and more personalized.
Worsted Wool/Felt Pillows
Lisa and Linda saw some really cool pillows at Brown County that they talked about trying out this year. Lisa is crazy busy but we will do our best to get things ready for this project.
Halloween Candy
Lisa found some cute candy molds that she will bring for people to play around with too.

A Pot Luck Lunch
I will have Baked Potato Soup, Mom's foil wrapped Ham Sandwiches and Halloween Brownies. We will also have the apple pie from the Farm. Barb is bringing a Langen's Fruit Tray and we are hoping Linda can bring the traditional Servati's Pretzel with Cheese. Everyone else can bring a dish to share (we'll need some veggies). Anyone feeling like they need healthy choices, go for it!! I currently only have the energy to provide "comfort food", which tends to be a little more caloric :)

You can stay as long as you like...If we need to order something for dinner time we will.

Looking forward to spending time with everyone!! If you want to let me know what you are bringing, that's fine. If you want to just show up, that's fine too. But do let me know when we should expect you so we know who we are waiting for to head to Iron's Fruit Farm.
Love you all!
Theresa

I'm so excited! I have to work Friday night so I'll be leaving Saturday morning. Most likely I will miss the trip at 1:30 but I'll make it by 4 or 5. I'd love to bake or cook something delicious for the weekend!
